Cartago Paraje del Pozo is a red wine with Toro DO elaborated by San Román winery with ageging 30 months in both new and used French oak barrels. Limited production.

Cartago refers to the natural environment on the banks of the Duero river in the municipality of Castronuño. In the estates included in the landscape of Cartago, meadows and pine forests predominate, but also poplars, poplars, willows and ash trees. El Pozo is a 5-hectare farm located 700 meters above sea level in a privileged spot with old bull ink vineyards (45 years old) planted on free standing. Traditional plantation frame of 3 meters by 3 meters.

El Pozo is a privileged place located in Villaester and planted with old vines of Tinta de Toro of over 45 years old. For Cartago we select the grapes from the crest of a small hill at the highest point, starting at 700 meters altitude.

On very sandy soils with clay at around 50 cm deep and vines planted with their original rootstock, in a traditional framework of 3x3. Average yields of 2,500 kg per hectare.

The harvest of El Pozo is a a manual selection in the vineyard first. After a complete destemming, fermentation and maceration, with native yeasts, took place for 15 days with temperatures of up to 28º C.
