The La Montesa wine from the Palacios Remondo winery is one of the organic red wines with aged with the D.O.Ca La Rioja.

The grape varieties used are mainly Garnacha grapes (95%), and a small part of other varieties from the area. La Montesa red wine is a Crianza wine, aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.

The winemaker of La Montesa is the prestigious Álvaro Palacios, together with Eduardo Vela. In the viticulture process, the managers are Álvaro Palacios and José M. Marcilla.

The Palacios Remondo winery was re-established in 1947 and this is the fifth generation of viticulturists.

La Montesa red wine has an alcohol content of 14% Vol. and its bottle capacity is 75 cl.

To make La Montesa wine, exclusively grapes from the La Montesa vineyard are used; which is found in Parajes de Valtomelloso, Valfrio and Valviejo; Mount Yerga. It is a long slope with a gentle slope of 10%, at an altitude of 550 m. It is located in the Municipality of Alfaro, which is in the DoCa la Rioja. Here they enjoy a continental Mediterranean climate with an Atlantic influence with extreme winter-summer differences.

The vines are 33 years old, and the harvest is done by hand and in green, only one bunch per branch.

La Montesa Crianza wine has a cherry red color with garnet rims. On the nose, its ripe red fruit stands out with hints of currants and blueberries, it highlights a great freshness provided by the balsamic touches, very floral, with toasted sensations. On the palate it has a good journey with hints of fruit and spices. With good acidity, fresh and fruity.

The optimum time for consuming La Montesa red wine is from the third/fourth year in the bottle, with a potential for aging of more than 20 years.
