The Macallan Classic Cut 2020 Edition is the fourth edition in the limited annual series that celebrate our ongoing commitment to seek out the extraordinary and in doing so, create whiskies of unique character.

The Macallan has released Classic Cut 2020 Edition, a higher strength single malt created to deliver a full and heightened flavour.

The Macallan Classic Cut 2020, A Full and Heightened Flavour

For the first time in the series, which is designed to offer a different flavour experience year on year, The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team had the freedom the explore The Macallan’s different cask types to create the peerless single malt.

The Macallan Whisky Maker, Polly Logan used her skill and experience to craft the expression using a combination of sherry seasoned European oak casks and ex-bourbon American oak casks to create a single malt with a unique flavour and character.

Tasting notes of The Macallan Classic Cut 2020 by The Macallan Destillery

Colour: Sunlit straw
Aroma: Vanilla with candied orange peel and honey, sweet sultana and raisin with fresh oak and thyme.
Palate: Ginger warmth, sweet orange, vanilla and honey with a fresh vibrant oak.
Finish: Sweet and zingy which travels through to lingering fresh thyme.

The Macallan Classic Cut 2020, A vibrant Single Malt

The exceptional whisky offers a sweet lightness brought by the ex-bourbon oak casks, intertwined with the depth and complexity created by The Macallan’s signature sherry-seasoned oak casks. It has a higher strength ABV of 55%, selected by the Whisky Maker as the optimum level to bring forth the full character of the single malt and reveal the dominant notes of vanilla, sweet orange and fresh vibrant oak.
