Miyagikyo Japanese Nikka Whisky 10 Years is a pure malt whisky produced in Miyagikyo distillery located in Sendai, northern Japan and built in 1969. Nikka Whisky was founded in 1924 by Masataka Taketsuru, known as the father of Japanese whiskey .

Fascinated by the Scotch decided to dedicate his life to whiskey production, studied his craft at the University of Glasgow. After this experience, of internships in various breweries and learn from the best teachers, he returned to Japan convinced to start his own production company whiskey. His company Nikka Whisky, has two distilleries Yoichi and Miyagikyo and each passing year becomes more fame and impact.

Miyagikyo chose to Sendai for its clean air, adequate moisture, and groundwater that seeps through a layer of peat; a different natural environment that results in a wine with a different malt whiskey Yoichi character. Traveling through the area one day, Masataka Taketsuru, founder of the distillery, found this site completely enclosed by mountains and located between two rivers. She knew immediately that is was the right to produce malt whiskey distilling and place.
